Megan Gohl - Head Coach for 14 Regional
ABOUT MEGAN: Megan played high school volleyball at Belleville, as a libero/setter. She went on to play in college as a setter and was a 4 year captain at Marygrove College. She has been coaching Hurricanes for 7 years, this is her third year being a regional coach. Megan also was an assistant Varsity coach for a year at Belleville and spent a year assisting at Schoolcraft college as well.
** Megan is also one of our private lesson and summer camp coaches. She specifies in ages 14 and under but is not limited to only those ages. She also runs our Friday night beginner, intermediate and advanced volleyball clinics. Please email her with any inquiries you may have! **
Annie Collins - Head Coach for 15 Regional
ABOUT ANNIE: Annie played volleyball for 4 years at Divine Child in Dearborn where she graduated from. Right out of High School she began coaching the freshman team there while attending U of M Dearborn. She stayed with the program for 5 years and then recently took a coaching job in Walled Lake, where she works with Sarah Lindstrom, one of our new Hurricanes directors. On top of her 6 years of High School coaching experiences, she is also employed by Legacy Volleyball Club for the past 5 seasons. This year, she has taken a step back from head coaching at Legacy to assist and will be joining the Hurricanes coaching staff as a head coach.

Brenda Gohl - Head Coach for 11 Local Red
ABOUT BRENDA: Brenda Gohl otherwise known as “Coach LuLu” is our 11U local coach. She has been coaching volleyball for 35 years and played prior to that. She has been able to keep up with the changes in the game through her efforts in coaching and staying in-tune to her daughter’s career through high school and college. Brenda has coached 7-18 year olds at various levels as well as CYO, club, and High School and was also the head coach at Belleville HS from 1983-1991. She has coached clinics and our 11U team at High Velocity for the past four years. Coach LuLu strives to give her athletes a good foundation in learning the basic skills of the game while fostering a true love for the sport of volleyball. She has been blessed with patience and a desire to teach a younger age group to help them prepare for future success in the game. She looks forward to another season with the Hurricanes Club!
Sam Kole - Head Coach for 12 Local Red
ABOUT SAM: Samantha Kole (Coach Sam) has been part of the Hurricanes Volleyball Club since it opened in 2008. She played as a Hurricane for two seasons, and has been coaching ever since. This season coming up will be her 9th season coaching 12 and under. Sam attended Belleville High School and graduated in 2010, where she played volleyball all four years. She attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated in 2015 with her Elementary Education degree! She currently teaches Kindergarten for Van Buren Public Schools. Sam loves coaching volleyball and is passionate about watching her love of the game spark in her players.
Jeremy Shaft - Head Coach for 12 Local White
ABOUT JEREMY: During his sophomore year at Salem High School, Jeremy Shaft fell in love with the sport of volleyball in a volleyball class run by the varsity coach. With no high school volleyball for boys in Michigan, his options to play the sport were slim. He was the manager of the Salem Volleyball team his Junior and Senior years, where he practiced with the girls every day. He also traveled over an hour to Monroe to play club volleyball with the Monroe Merchants. Volleyball quickly became his passion and he began traveling anywhere he could to play in leagues or open gyms, sometimes playing in two leagues a night and driving an hour between them. At Eastern Michigan University he played for the Men’s Club Team which had the privilege of being coached by the EMU women's varsity coach Kim Berrington. His sophomore year he was named all MAC conference as the team’s setter. In 1998 Jeremy played for Team Pepsi One in the MPVA (Midwest Professional Volleyball Association) indoor tour, which featured many of the best men’s players in North America. It was the first professional men’s tour in the US. Jeremy moved to Davenport Iowa in 2001 to attend Palmer Chiropractic College. While in Davenport he played Outside Hitter and Libero with one of the top midwest USAV teams, the Inmates. He also was the president of the Palmer Volleyball Club. He is married to Shay and has two daughters, Sophia and Edith. He is the owner of True Health Chiropractic in Romulus and Novi. He currently plays beach volleyball competitively around the midwest at the Open Level.
ABOUT MARCUS: Marcus is currently a student at Eastern Michigan University. He plays for the Eastern Michigan Men's Club Volleyball team and has been playing competitively for almost two years now. He has coached for three years and began his career as an assistant Varsity coach for Belleville High School. This is Marcus's second season coaching at the club level, however he believes his knowledge, passion, and strive for success will lead his teams this 2017 season towards greatness. Marcus is extremely grateful to coach this upcoming season and cannot wait to take the Hurricane's to the next level!
ABOUT CAROLYN: Carolyn is currently a senior at Salem High School. She played volleyball for 4 years on various school and club teams. She continues to pursue her coaching career with us as she has previously coached at Saint Edith, Triple Threat Volleyball Organization and also Liberty Middle School.

Katerina Rocafort - Head Coach for 13 Local White
ABOUT KATERINA: Katerina is a 5'7 setter from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She started playing volleyball when she was about 10 years old and has been a setter ever since. Katerina was raised in a volleyball family, as her father played in college as well. Currently, she is a freshman setter for the University of Michigan. We are excited to have a Division I athlete on our staff to help our Hurricane's understand the importance of hard work.
Ellyn Nedwicki - Head Coach for 13 Local Black
ABOUT ELLYN: In May of 2017 Ellyn will receive her MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy, where she also received her bachelor's degree in finance. She played on the women's soccer team at Detroit for four year and currently works part-time at Domino's Corporate Headquarters in their Accounting Department. Ellyn started playing volleyball in fifth grade at Divine Child, where she fell in love with the sport. She continued on to play throughout her four years of high school at Divine Child as well. She was a member of the Detroit Mercy Club Volleyball team her freshman year and helped to coach the team through her sophomore year. Throughout her volleyball career she also played on numerous club teams. Although Ellyn chose to continue her soccer career in college, she always continues to watch and play volleyball. She’s learned so many life skills and lessons throughout both of her sports careers and looks forward to being able to pass on some of these while coaching for the Hurricanes.
Sydney Wetterstrom - Head Coach for 14 Local Red
ABOUT SYDNEY: Sydney is from Boulder, Colorado and has been playing volleyball for several years. Currently, Sydney is a freshman outside hitter on the University of Michigan Women's volleyball team! She has coached club for three years at Norco Juniors back home and she can't wait to bring her experience to the Hurricanes program.
Kristen Muir - Head Coach for 14 Local White
ABOUT KRISTEN: Kristen has 10 years of experience playing volleyball from club level all the way through college. She began her club career at Michigan Elite and spent her last year of club playing at Legacy Volleyball Club. Kristen also competed for 4 years on Varsity for Canton High School as an six-rotation outside hitter. After high school, she played varsity volleyball at Michigan State University as a defensive specialist and libero. With her degree from Michigan State, she now works full time as a Business Risk Advisory Consultant at Deloitte. She has learned countless lessons throughout her career and is very excited to share all of her experiences playing and coaching the sport she loves with young, driven and hard working girls!

MacKenzi Welsh - Head Coach for 14 Local Black
ABOUT MACKENZI: MacKenzi Welsh is a freshman setter at the University of Michigan. She played club at Sports Performance in Aurora, Illinois and has been playing volleyball for 11 years. She is a two time AAU National Champion and a three time AAU All American. She has coached at several camps, and clinics but this will be her first club coaching experience and she couldn't be more excited!
Amanda Rybak - Head Coach for 15 Local Red
ABOUT AMANDA: Amanda Rybak has played volleyball for 13 years. She played CYO during her younger years and continued on to play four years at Livonia Churchill. Amanda then played 2 years at Schoolcraft college. She has been coaching for 4 years now including ages 12u, 14u, 15u and this year another 15u team. This will be her second year at the High Velocity Hurricane’s. Amanda is now a full time student and continues to coach on the side.
ABOUT JAYCI: Jayci began playing volleyball when she was 9 years old at St. Raphael in the CYO. She also played all 4 years at Divine Child High School. Her club career started when she was 13, and 3 of those years were with the Hurricanes. This is her second year coaching with the Hurricanes, Last year she co-coached a local team and assisted a regional team. Currently, she is a sophomore at the University of Michigan-Dearborn where she is a member of the volleyball team. Jayci is considered a utility player, but specializes in defense or outside attacking. She is extremely excited for the upcoming Hurricanes season.
Shayla Smalls - Head Coach for 15 Local Black
ABOUT SHAYLA: Shayla has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years old. She first started playing recreational volleyball and then progressively got more involved in competitive volleyball at Michigan Elite until age 16. Shayla also played high school varsity volleyball at Plymouth for 4 years and now currently plays as an outside hitter at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Throughout her volleyball career, she’s played all positions, but mainly setter and outside hitter. She has coached for the past two years and enjoys working with each team on improving their skills and love for the game of volleyball.
Madison Dest - Head Coach for 16 Local Red
ABOUT MADISON: Madison Dest is one of our younger coaches and this is her second year coaching for the Hurricanes. She has been around the game her entire life and began playing volleyball when she was six years old. Madison played Varsity all four years of high school and also played two years at Schoolcraft College. As a student, she is busy studying nursing and plans to start her program in the fall of 2018. Madison is dedicated to this upcoming season and looks forward to the progress her team will make.
Erin Parrinello - Head Coach for 16 Local White
ABOUT ERIN: Erin Parrinello has been playing volleyball for about eight and a half years. She played at the collegiate level at Schoolcraft volleyball for two years and will be hopefully continuing her volleyball career at a four year university. Erin also has helped out at the camps run John Glenn. As a first year coach, she is looking forward to sharing her love for the game with the girls and helping them develop their talent further.
Amy Angelos - Head Coach for 16 Local Black
ABOUT AMY: Amy Angelos is currently the volunteer assistant coach at the University of Michigan. The Waukegan, IL native is also involved with Legacy Volleyball Club , in her second season. Angelos comes to Ann Arbor by way of William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., where she was an assistant coach since August of 2014. She also coached with the H2 Volleyball Club and at North Callaway High School. In addition to her coaching experience, Angelos brings a wealth of instructional knowledge to the Wolverine program, as she provided instruction at All American Camps, Eastside Volleyball Club and Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club. A 2014 graduate of Bradley University, Angelos captained the Braves volleyball team as a junior and senior. As a middle blocker, she also earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors and conference academic honors, and finished her career ranked 8th in all time career kills for the braves.
